“LOOT Addiction—A Growing Phenomenon on College Campuses”
Natalie was tired of trekking all over the concrete jungle for cool retro furniture for her new apartment, she was only met by high prices and rude salespeople. She was still sleeping on the floor of her empty apartment when she overheard some of her classmates raving about the benefits of LOOT. Because she had already spent most of her money on books, and had little funds left over to work with, she decided to check it out online. Within a week Natalie was a LOOT addict—she furnished her whole apartment with LOOT items and managed to spend less than $500. She quickly discovered why www.lootusa.com is the place to find great bargains on one-of-a-kind items.
J.C. Herz of The New York Observer states, “LOOT has the undeniable appeal of something for nothing.”

“It used to be that if you were looking for an apartment you’d line up at the Astor Place Newsstand Tuesday night to get the first copies of the Village Voice…[LOOT is solely devoted to classified ads and lists at least 500 more apartments each week than the Voice,” says Tom Roe of Time Out New York.

FAST UNVEILS FAST ESP™ -- FAST Enterprise Search Platform Sets Standard for Complete, Single Point Retrieval and Discovery of Relevant Information Across the Enterprise and the Web
January 28 2004--Fast Search & Transfer™ (FAST™), the leading developer of enterprise search and real-time alerting technologies, today introduced FAST ESP™, an enterprise search platform that for the first time enables organizations to intelligently and dynamically retrieve and analyze the complete collection of information existing across their entire enterprise and from the Web.
Running on low-cost, high performance servers, the precision-engineered FAST Enterprise Search Platform (FAST ESP) enables organizations to efficiently gain a 360-degree view of relevant structured data stored in databases, as well as the unstructured data of documents, emails, presentations, Web pages, and more. Whether data exists in multiple databases and applications, on corporate intranets, or on the Web, FAST ESP provides unlimited access and scalability in data volume, number of users, and freshness of data. It also enables organizations to draw one complete, accurate, secure, and intelligent view of all the information they need to advance the fortunes of the enterprise. FAST ESP is designed for rapid integration with low or no impact on the existing infrastructure, and supports multiple deployments from a single implementation.
“FAST ESP represents a paradigm shift; we are advancing our highly acclaimed enterprise search technology to the next level, putting greater distance between FAST and competing solutions, and providing a single platform solution that will transform the search market as it exists today,” commented John M. Lervik, FAST’s chief executive officer. “From a wide variety of perspectives, FAST ESP offers countless new opportunities for tremendous business growth by boosting the value of data that exists within, and outside the enterprise. While enabling our customers to gain value from streams of formerly untapped information, FAST ESP is also propelling FAST and our global partners into new markets, where there is a need to harvest information from massive silos of data to enable well-informed business decisions.”
According to a report soon to be published by industry analysts at IDC, unstructured information in the form of e-mails, instant messages, Web pages, documents, presentations and the like, now represents an estimated 80% of the enterprise data collection. Database technology is simply not built nor equipped to handle the various search and information-retrieval tasks associated with this kind of information. However, with FAST ESP, organizations can effectively aggregate, index, and extract the value from 100% of its data by treating the information throughout the entire enterprise as a unified asset.
“Enterprises tell us that their primary goal in investing in new content technologies today is to unify access to all of their information,” said Susan Feldman, IDC's Research VP for content technologies. "FAST's ESP creates a broad platform for finding and analyzing any kind of information—structured or unstructured—in any repository. It's a leap into the future. IDC believes that this product ushers in a new generation of information access platforms that will provide a unified view of enterprise information. The platform is standards-based and highly scalable. FAST ESP also automates processes like taxonomy building that were previously labor-intensive, and it creates real time access to both data and content. That's impressive."
“Enterprise-wide search is rapidly becoming a pivotal IT capability because it is the catalyst that transforms the huge volume and diversity of data within enterprises into unified, focused information assets for driving business efficiency,” commented Bjørn Olstad, FAST’s chief technology officer. “As a single search platform that sits at the center of an IT infrastructure, FAST ESP greatly enhances the information retrieval and analysis process by unifying, monitoring, and retrieving all of the disparate data sources that house information most critical to an organization’s success.”
FAST ESP fundamentally alters an enterprise’s ability to manage and use its information to more effectively compete in the around-the-clock business world. The new capabilities of FAST ESP complements and strengthens enterprise software suites such as ERP, CRM and SCM, as well as software systems for data mining, data extraction, data warehousing, and business intelligence. It can be implemented with low or no impact on existing infrastructure, and dramatically increases the ROI of an organization’s investment in enterprise data. Its architecture is open, modular, and scalable across three dimensions: data volume, number of users and frequency of use, and data latency. FAST ESP also includes strong support for fault tolerance and data consistency; real-time data input and query capabilities; high-level, tuneable, multi-lingual relevancy frameworks; LiveAnalytics™ for integrated on-the-fly information access and discovery; and BMCP™ which enables business users to tune and optimize the system to reflect business objectives.
FAST ESP Enables Business Specific Applications
FAST ESP is transforming enterprise search into an IT infrastructure necessity and a key enabler for mission-critical applications, including eCommerce, Financial Services; Government; Life Sciences; Media and Publishing; and Telecom applications. “FAST’s unique, single-platform approach is setting new search standards for customers and partners worldwide by providing them with scalable, industrial strength search solutions that address their needs and allow them to migrate from smaller installations to cost efficient enterprise-wide deployments, as required, without changing software platform,” commented Ali Riaz, FAST’s chief operating officer.
FAST ESP is the underlying technology of the new portfolio of FAST Data Search™ solutions, which are specifically formulated for high-value enterprise functions that can directly impact revenue. Among these are:
FAST Data Search™ for Site Search – Delivers a proven solution for high traffic sites requiring rapid accurate results, fault-tolerant deployments, continuous updating of information available from the site, and support for multiple languages for a global presence.
FAST Data Search™ for eCommerce – Provides sub-second, accurate responses to customer queries to maximize revenue, minimize abandonment, and increase customer satisfaction for repeat business.
FAST Data Search™ for Intranets – Creates and continually maintains an instantly searchable index of the entire enterprise collection of structured and unstructured data within an organization’s Intranet.
FAST Data Search™ for Compliance – Provides organizations a single secure access point to find and retrieve all of the collections of documents, transactions, and e-mails pertinent to help monitor, identify and surface potential violations.
FAST Data Search™ 360 – Presents organizations with the most complete search solution for retrieving highly relevant information from their enterprise, be it from any number of global databases, their intranet, or the Web.
Search Derivative Applications (SDAs)
FAST ESP provides all the technology needed to create specialized search-dependent solutions called Search Derivative Applications (SDAs). “In addition to consolidating and vastly improving upon key business functions, such as site search, intranet search and eCommerce, FAST ESP technology can be deployed to create new and innovative SDAs to solve demanding business problems, such as brand and content protection, anti-money laundering, and market intelligence. FAST ESP presents new ways of attacking problems like these that simply have not been possible before,” added Riaz.
Rather than requiring totally separate development efforts and implementation, SDAs can be rapidly developed based on the flexible framework of the FAST ESP platform. This focused flexibility results in very efficient use of development and support resources, and of investments in physical equipment.
FAST ESP simply marries a “no technical boundaries” approach with a clear understanding of real-world requirements: extraordinary performance, precise accuracy, broad reach, and high return on investment. For FAST, the search never stops.
About FAST
FAST creates the real-time search and filter technology solutions that are behind the scenes at the world’s best known companies with the most demanding search problems. FAST’s flexible and scalable integrated technology platform elevates the search capabilities of enterprise customers and connects people to the relevant information they seek regardless of medium. eQuorum Releases ImageSite Plan Review; Web Technology Expedites Construction Plan Review
ATLANTA, GA July 22, 2003 — eQuorum Corporation today announced ImageSite® Plan Review, a Web-based product that automates the plan review process of engineering drawings submitted for permit approval. ImageSite Plan Review expedites the review process through quicker identification and resolution of code violations on permit plan sets.
ImageSite Plan Review lets local governments create multi-step workflows for the review and approval of construction plans. These workflows help ensure that steps in the review process are completed per established business rules and on schedule. Reports give government department staff or agency managers the current status of all plan approval projects, and help identify problem issues that must be resolved before approval is made.
ImageSite Plan Review works with existing permit systems to automate plan reviews. The software provides a shared online workspace for simultaneous reviews by all departments involved in the permit approval process. As permit code issues are identified, they are categorized and routed to the appropriate users for response and resolution. This significantly shortens the review and approval process since reviewers can see others’ issues and coordinate their responses.
ImageSite Plan Review works with both paper and electronic plan sets. Web-based electronic plan submission offers additional advantages to the review and approval process. ImageSite Plan Review enables Web-based plan submission as part of the permit request. Features such as online viewing of construction drawings and markup capabilities further automate the review process. Users do not need to install any CAD software on their computers as all work is done through a standard web browser.
“ImageSite Plan Review includes collaboration features that let users in multiple government departments and outside agencies perform reviews simultaneously,” states Frank Bouchard, vice president of sales and marketing at eQuorum. “This saves time and reduces expenses.”
Bouchard continues, “ImageSite Plan Review is a Web-based solution, so when permit issues are identified, the workflows for resolution allow active participation of the builders and developers. Their direct participation ensures quick response to potential code violation issues. Developers really appreciate the increased transparency of the review and approval process since they can see exactly where their review stands.”
ImageSite Plan Review is sold directly by eQuorum. The product is a server-based solution and there is no client software to install or maintain. For more details, please contact eQuorum at 800.800.7568 or 404.497.8100 or visit the web site at www.equorum.com.

Leap SE 2.0 turns System Requirements into Object Models and Data Models, Automatically
Melbourne, FL August 16, 2004 -- Leap Systems announces Leap SE 2.0, the second release of its CASE tool that converts natural English into object models for software development. The new release features two significant enhancements: data model output in the form of an SQL file, which can be run in a relational database to produce tables, relationships, and integrity constraints; and a new “verbose” option that adds to its object model output to include constructors, destructors, set( ) and get( ) methods, and support for enumerated types.
Leap SE not only acts as a repository for “shall” statements that comprise a System Requirements Specification (SRS), it provides a means of generating object-oriented header files directly from those requirements. And now, with Leap SE 2.0, a data model is also produced for a relational view of the system.
By translating business rules—expressed in natural English—into a cohesive set of classes, relationships, and inheritance hierarchies, Leap SE provides a way to “leap over” a substantial part of the systems engineering effort so crucial to the execution of any software development project.
Every time a new requirement is saved, Leap SE’s object model database is automatically updated to reflect the new entities, attributes, methods, and relationships. From this database, a directory of header files can be produced at any time to give software engineering a much-needed head start on design. In addition, it’s just one small step to importing these header files into a reverse-engineering CASE tool to create class diagrams. With Leap SE 2.0, entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) can also be generated from the data model SQL file. Consistency is ensured between the two types of models (object and data) because both derive from the same object model database.
Based on the OMG’s Unified Modeling Language (UML), Leap SE uses a unique methodology called Deterministic Phraseology to:
- Produce models without any additional effort beyond entering requirements
- Translate business rules—expressed in English—into both object and data models
- Enforce the creation of build-able and testable requirements for sell-off
- Expose inconsistencies and ambiguity among system requirements
Features include:
- 21 templates for quick and easy composition
- Builder for creating complex requirements
- Model growth with every saved requirement
- Instant object model generation from SRS
- Instant data model generation from SRS
- Integrated queries and template examples
- A complete repository for your system specifications
Program managers can cut their systems engineering staffing in half with Leap SE, while promoting the development of testable requirements and engaging their software teams much earlier in the systems development lifecycle.
To download a free demo and obtain product information, go to http://www.leapse.com.

Gary Davenport
I have looked at the software for a short period of time. It is clearly a vast improvement over Virtual Tour EXE and seems very production friendly
for VR developers. The design of Tourweaverseems quite straightforward and easy to use both as a developer and user. I think it should succeed in helping customers to quickly create tours that provide both a professional 'look' while providing ample customization features. The ability to integrate hotspots is excellent and valuable.
Dylan McLoughlin
Tourweaver looks very good and I think you are doing excellent work to advance your company. Excellent- the path section is absolutely Brilliant, I have wanted this "record path" concept in a pano for years. Thank you so much for this. Ohhh I absolutely love love love this "record Path/zoom feature"more than anything by far in the whole program, by far!!!!!!!!!! You have created the most brilliant thing to come along in panorama image making with this record path/record zoom with this timeline feature. You guys hit the target, brilliant!!!!!!!!

Finally, Commercial Grade Touch Screen Music Software
August 20, 2004 -- Touch-N-Go was in the business of selling touch screen music machines to bars and restaurants. Now, they have released their exclusive software to be licensed for sale. When viewing the program for the first time, you immediately notice that there are no menus like other music programs. There are no drop down buttons. Rather smooth control with no intimidating graphics. I have to say Touch-N-Go is very original in their design. It is unbelievably easy to use. The hardest thing about it is copying your mp3's into the import folder.
There are many features not available to other music programs, like password lock out, auto-mixing, auto volume-leveling, and it even removes the songs that you have already played. It will automatically back-up your songs to a second hard drive and has an option to turn off your PC. Just as if it was a stand-alone music machine.
If you want to make a industrial/commercial touch screen music machine, Touch-N-Go is the way to go. They will be spending there marketing dollars on targeting Yachts and high-end motor homes. For more information, http://www.touch-n-go.com

nMetric's™ 4C™ Easily Exchanges Data with Other Enterprise Applications
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
nMetric’s™ 4C™ Easily Exchanges Data with
Other Enterprise Applications
nTegrator™ Reduces Effort and Accelerates Implementation of 4C@Site/Quickly Leverages Legacy Systems
COSTA MESA, CALIF. – January 21, 2003 – nMetric today announced that mid-sized manufacturers can implement real-time scheduling, monitoring and tracking of manufacturing status faster and easier with nTegrator, 4C@Site’s tool for exchanging data with other applications, including ERP, MES, finite scheduling, factory floor data collection and other presently-used enterprise systems. No programming is required.
“nTegrator reduces the effort required to get our 4C solution up and running quickly,” explains Tom Carpenter, nMetric CEO. “It is a standard tool which speeds up our application’s XML connection, letting mid-sized and smaller manufacturers minimize their investments in ERP or other enterprise software and systems while keeping up with market demands their present systems never anticipated. With their legacy system and 4C, they can switch from build-to-stock methods of forecasting to build-to-order, embrace the concept of vendor managed inventory, compete in real time, and affordably leverage the Internet-based supply chain. As a result of using nTegrator to quickly install 4C@Site, these companies will achieve lower costs, a faster time-to-benefit and increased returns-on-investment.”
The nTegrator tool consists of two components, a server and administrator. The server is a multi-threaded Java application comprised of input and output channels. Each channel is represented by a thread, or process, in the server and processes a specific interface transaction definition. Each channel also defines the event that triggers the interface definition, the method of retrieving or receiving the appropriate data, the process for transforming the data into standard or custom XML business documents, and the method for posting the resulting document.
The administrator is a Java application, which is used to configure all aspects of the nTegrator.
According to Carpenter, nTegrator lets companies quickly get the most out of the systems they already have rather than having to invest in a new system, aggravating all those in non-manufacturing areas comfortably using the present software, yet meet the needs of the new supply chain millennium.
“Interestingly, they simply need to view their present enterprise system in a new light,” Carpenter instructs. “No longer is it the provider of answers; it is the provider of data used by 4C@Site, which affordably ties their shop floor to the supply chain and alerts all members of their chain to potential problems with present orders as well as prospective opportunities for new orders.
“Instead of traditional hindsight-oriented models, 4C is forward-looking,” adds Carpenter. “It’s ‘capable to build’ feature allows users to access the system via wireless or network connected devices and instantly determine if the facility is capable of delivering a new order by a specific date, considering all resources and factors that might affect the ability to produce and deliver.”
Once installed, smaller manufacturers can schedule, monitor, track and optimize their shop floors and related activities in real-time. They can institute instant individual and departmental “messaging” and collaboration regarding the status of work orders, shop operations, equipment availability and related resources availability. The “always on” engine allows management to receive immediate and continuous information concerning the current and future performance and integrity of shop floor activities. 4C reveals their contentions for resources, monitors the entire process and sends alerts (email, cell phone, PDA, etc.) when unexpected events create delays or contentions in the delivery schedule.
